SUBJ: 2019 SOCIETY OF AMERICAN INDIAN GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES (SAIGE) MERITORIOUS
SERVICE AWARD
1. This ALCOAST solicits for the 2019 Society of American Indian Government
Employees (SAIGE) Meritorious Service Award. The award honors service members and
civilian employees, who have supported the U.S. Coast Guard (CG) mission, or whose
attributes best epitomized the qualities and core values of the Service for the
performance period January 2018 to March 2019.
2. All CG service members and civilian employees are eligible for the SAIGE award.
3. All nominations will be evaluated according to the following criteria:
    a. Demonstrated support for inclusion and promotion of all DoD and DHS government
personnel, to include American Indians and Alaskan Natives within the Armed Forces or
Federal civilian workforce.
    b. Promoted a positive image of American Indians and Alaskan Natives serving in
government through official government programs and or community outreach.
4. Nominations shall include the following:
    a. One-page narrative describing the accomplishments warranting recognition.
    b. Citation, not to exceed 12 lines, highlighting the accomplishments of the nominee.
    c. One-page biography of the nominee (a resume will not suffice).
    d. A digital (.jpg format) head and shoulder color photograph of the nominee.
    e. Command cover memo, with signature, forwarding the package.
    f. Award Nomination Transmittal Form. For a copy of this form, please contact the
POC below.
5. Items a. thru c. of Paragraph 4. above, must be in MS Word with 12pt font, single-
spaced with one-inch left and right margins. These documents may not be scanned or in
    a .pdf format. Do not include PII information in nomination packages.
6. Nomination packages must be forwarded as email attachments, to the POC, Mr. Juan
Torres, Juan.L.Torres@uscg.mil, NLT March 27, 2019. For additional information,

7. COMDT (CG-00H) will send all nominations to SAIGE for consideration and final
selection. The award recipients' commands will be notified by phone. An ALCOAST will
announce the winner(s).
