Coast Guard, partner agencies searching for missing swimmer off Tybee Island
CHARLESTON, S.C. — The Coast Guard and partner agencies are searching Tuesday for a 33-year-old man off Tybee Island, Georgia.
The missing man was last seen by his wife swimming off Tybee Island in a wet suit on a body board.
Coast Guard Sector Charleston Command Center watchstanders were notified by Tybee Island Fire and Rescue of a person in the water at 6:38 p.m. Monday.
A Coast Guard Station Tybee Island 45-foot Response Boat – Medium boat crew and an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew launched to assist.
The Coast Guard assets arrived on scene and joined Tybee Island Fire and Rescue and local police in searching for the swimmer.
The RB-M crew searched throughout the night and remains on scene. The Coast Guard Cutter Ridley crew and Dolphin helicopter crew are also on scene searching.
