SUBJ: MILITARY SAVES WEEK 2019
1. The 2019 Military Saves Week initiative runs from 25 February through 2 March.
Military Saves Week is an annual worldwide financial movement used to support and
encourage military families to save money and build wealth over time. The Coast
Guard promotes Military Saves Week by encouraging Coast Guard members, civilians,
retirees, and their families to save automatically and create a savings plan.
2. Military Saves Week allows for the Coast Guard to join forces with federal,
state, and local resources and make the commitment to build a savings plan.
Everyone is encouraged to take the Military Saves Pledge, a simple savings plan
that can transform savings behavior, by visiting the website:
https://militarysaves.org/for-savers/savings-tools-and-resources/take-the-pledge.
3. Military Saves Week is the opportunity for Coast Guard families to assess their
current saving habits. Daily saving themes include: save with a plan; save
automatically; save for retirement; and save as a family. When savers take the
Military Saves Pledge, they can opt-in to receive text messages and reminders to
stay on track with their savings goals.
4. There are many resources available to Coast Guard members, civilians, and
families to assist in reaching their financial goals. Personal financial
management services and resources include:
    A. Personal Financial Managers (PFM): PFMs are a part of the Work-Life staff
at each Health, Safety, and Work-Life Regional Practice (HSWL-RP). If a PFM is not
available at your location, the Personal Financial Management Coordinator (PFMC) at
the HSWL-RP can assist with obtaining resources.
    B. Command Financial Specialist (CFS): CFSs are military members appointed by
the Commanding Officer to provide financial education and information referral at
the command level. CFSs are located at many centralized units throughout the
Coast Guard.
    C. Office of Work-Life, Personal and Financial Management Program website,
http://www.dcms.uscg.mil/financial/.
    D. CG SUPRT Financial Wellness Money Coach: Money coaches are able to
provide free one on one confidential financial counseling. Contact CG SUPRT at
855-CG SUPRT (248-8778) or www.CGSUPRT.com and ask to speak with a Money Coach.
