Waterway Status - Temporary Moving Safety Zone - Gulf of Mexico, Mississippi Canyon Block 20

The U.S. Coast Guard Captain of the Port New Orleans, under the authority of the Ports and Waterways Safety Act, will establish a moving safety zone on February 14, 2019, in the Gulf of Mexico, Mississippi Canyon Block 20, in vicinity of 28°56'12.60"N, 88°58'10.30"W. The moving safety zone consists of a 500-yard radius around the M/V OCEAN PATRIOT and M/V ROSS CANDIES. This safety zone is needed to protect persons and vessels from the potential safety hazards associated with sub-surface containment installation operations. This rule is effective from February 14, 2019 at 6:00 a.m. until March 31, 2019 at 8:00 p.m. local time.

All vessels are prohibited from entering the safety zone unless they have been granted permission by the Captain of the Port New Orleans or designated representative. Only vessels participating in the sub-surface containment installation and pre-designated vessels are permitted within the safety zone after 6:00 a.m. on February 14, 2019.
