Coast Guard releases Environmental Assessment of proposed railroad bridges in Idaho, request public comment

 

SEATTLE — The Coast Guard has made a draft of the Environmental Assessment of the proposed construction of railroad bridges across Lake Pend Oreille and Sand Creek at Sandpoint, Bonner County, Idaho, available to the public and is requesting public comment beginning, Wednesday.

 

Rear Adm. David Throop, commander Coast Guard 13th District, has conducted and released the environmental assessment in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 and the National Historic Preservation Act for the proposed bridges that will be built parallel to existing railroad bridges crossing the same bodies of water. 

 

As structures over navigable waters of the United States, the proposed bridges will require a Coast Guard bridge permit. 

Public Notice 01-19 has been published on the USCG Navigation Center website at: http://www.navcen.uscg.gov/index.php under the Current Operational/Safety Information section.

The public notice contains a detailed description of the EA and provides further instructions regarding how to provide comments.
