Update: Coast Guard, local agencies search for two people near Mobile Bay, Alabama
NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard and local agencies are searching for two people near Mobile Bay, Alabama, Thursday.
Missing are Floyd Nelson, 85-years-old, and David Stadman, 40-years-old.
The 20-foot white fishing vessel the men were reported to be on was located at approximately 12:30 p.m. on the west side of Gaillard Island capsized. The search for the two men is still ongoing.
Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Mobile received a report at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday from a family member that the men were planning to travel between the Theodore Ship Channel and Gaillard Island Tuesday afternoon and were supposed to return by 9 a.m. Wednesday.
Involved in the search is:
- Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-65 Dolphin Helicopter air crew
- Coast Guard Station Dauphin Island 45-foot Response Boat-Medium boatcrew
- Mobile County Sheriff’s Department
- Baldwin Search and Rescue
