1. This message updates the Assignment Year 2019 (AY19) timelines from Ref A and Ref B.  
While the information provided in this message should be of particular interest to officers 
anticipating reassignment in AY19, it also includes important information for supervisors 
and units. 
2. Due to the unanticipated government furlough and extended Direct Access outage the AY19 
timeline has been adjusted. This effort is to facilitate full Direct Access functionality, 
essential to the assignment process. The timeline adjustment is also necessary to engage 
Family Resource Specialists and providers, vital to special needs determinations and overseas 
screening requirements. In addition, it will allow O-5s engaged by OPM-2 prior to the Direct 
Access outage to update their E-Resumes before the Assignment Panel. 
3. The AY19 timetable has been delayed 7 days, due to the factors cited in paragraph 2. OPM 
will make every effort to meet the updated timeline, however there may be additional updates. 
The updated AY19 timelines are as follows:
   A. 22-25 Jan 2019: O5 Assignment Panel.
   B. 22 Feb 2019: All O4 and OCONUS assignments completed.
   C. 22 Mar 2019: O3 and below assignments completed.
