1. Event. The Military Operations Research Society (MORS) is holding their 2019 National
Conference at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado from 17-20 June 2019. This year's theme -
Advancing Analytics to Support National Security - emphasizes the Society’s goal of leading the
national security analysis community in the development of cutting-edge tools, techniques, and
best practices. More information can be found here: http://www.mors.org/Events/Symposium/.
2. Purpose. The 87th Symposium will include hundreds of presentations across 34 Working Groups, 7
Composite Groups, and numerous Distributed Working Groups, Special Sessions, Demonstrations,
Tutorials, and Continuing Education Unit Courses over the four-day program. Over the last three
years, members from the Coast Guard Operations Research and Data Analytics community have been
invited to present nearly 20 papers on topics including Boat Station mission relevance, Panama
Canal transit cost modeling, Surfman program resilience, special event risk modeling, unstructured
data analytics, and using machine learning to predict barge inspection deficiencies. This year's
sessions will be conducted at the classified and unclassified level.
3. Conference Attendance Information.
    a. COMDT (CG-771) is coordinating the Conference Attendance Request approval process and requires
the pertinent information listed in paragraph 4 from attending members.
    b. Attendance, travel, and conference fees will be at unit discretion and expense. If funding is
not available, permissive orders are authorized IAW CH 2.a.10. of REF (B). Attendees are responsible
for making their own registration, travel, and lodging accommodations.
    c. Early registration conference fee is $360 for MORS members and $460 for non-members. Regular
registration fee is $560 and $660 respectively.
    d. Key Dates.
        (1) 1 November 2018 - Early Registration opened.
        (2) 15 February 2019 - Deadline for abstract submission.
        (3) 1 April 2019 - Early Registration ends.
        (4) 15 April - Selected presenters notified.
        (5) 15 May - Regular Registration ends.
4. Member’s responsibility. In order to attend the conference, member is responsible for providing
the following requirements to the POC in Paragraph 6:
    a. Submit approved TDY Travel Request Worksheet, Form (CG-2070) via email NLT 15 January 2019.
    b. Provide immediate email notification if cancelling attendance.
    c. After attending event, submit the Travel Voucher Summary (from TPAX) via email.
5. Uniform. Tropical Blue for military members.
