Coast Guard rescues 3 after vessel capsizes, partially sinks in Mosquito Lagoon
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Coast Guard rescued three boaters Saturday after their vessel capsized and partially sank in Mosquito Lagoon.
Coast Guard Sector Jacksonville watchstanders were notified after Coast Guard Station Ponce De Leon Inlet received a call at 5:31 p.m. from the spouse of one of three people who were in need of assistance after their 17-foot center console capsized and partially sunk.
A Coast Guard Station Ponce De Leon Inlet 24-foot Special Purpose Craft – Shallow Water boat crew diverted to assist.
At 5:47 p.m., the boat crew located the partially sunk vessel and the three boaters on a nearby barrier island. The boat crew embarked the three boaters and transported them to the North Causeway Boat Ramp where their vehicle was located.
There were no reports of pollution or injuries.
