CHARLESTON, S.C. — The Coast Guard rescued three fishermen Wednesday from a disabled vessel near Bulls Bay.
At 11:04 a.m., Coast Guard Sector Charleston Command Center watchstanders received a 911 relay from the crew of the Scorpion, a 44-foot shrimping vessel, stating they were disabled after their net wrapped around their prop.
A Coast Guard Air Facility Charleston MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew and a Station Charleston 45-foot Response Boat – Medium crew launched to assist.
Due to heavy seas causing the vessel to take on water, the helicopter crew hoisted the three fishermen and brought them to Mount Pleasant Regional Airport where EMS were waiting.
