JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Coast Guard and State partners accepted a salvage plan Thursday for a grounded vessel on Ormond Beach.
The 77-foot shrimping vessel, AMG, became grounded October 15th.
The accepted plan allows salvage operations to start on Saturday pending weather and other conditions. The salvage plan had to be accepted by officials to ensure the safe removal of the vessel. The vessel continues to be monitored by Coast Guard and State officials for pollution and hull integrity.
Officials ask beachgoers to maintain a safe distance from the vessel.
The cause of the grounding is currently under investigation.
