Waterway Status – Sunshine Bridge Closure
 MM 167 - 168 AHP LMR

Vessel Traffic Service Lower Mississippi River, in accordance with the Navigation Safety Regulations, Code of Federal Regulations Title 33, Subpart 161.11, will establish a Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) Measure for the waters of the Lower Mississippi River from Mile Marker (MM) 167.0 Above Head of Passes (AHP) to MM 168.0 AHP. This Measure is needed to protect persons and vessels from the potential safety hazards associated with the emergency repairs to the Sunshine Bridge. This Measure is in effect with the following provisions:

• Between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. on October 24, 2018: The Lower Mississippi River from MM 167.0 AHP to MM 168.0 AHP will be closed to all vessel traffic. 

Updates and/or changes to the published schedule will be broadcast via Safety Broadcast Notice to Mariners.

Mariners are urged to transit at slowest safe speed to minimize wake and proceed with caution.  For additional information about the repair operations, the M/V MR. C from the Coastal Bridge Company will be on-scene and can be contacted via VHF-FM Channel 84 or at (225) 776-5237.
