Coast Guard to honor local heroes
NEW LONDON, Conn. — The Coast Guard will present Public Service Awards to the Watch Hill Fire Department on Tuesday Oct. 23, 2018.
The honorees will be recognized for their successful efforts in rescuing five people from two separate search and rescue efforts from the waters of Long Island Sound. Without the dedication of these first responders, the outcomes could have been much different. The Coast Guard recognizes their efforts and fortitude in assisting with saving the lives of those in peril.
