1. This message solicits AY19 applicants for one-year PCS ashore and afloat
assignments to PATFORSWA. 
2. This is a dependent restricted, non-isolated PCS assignment available for
men and women.  Upon successful completion of this tour, members will have a
choice of being placed at the top of a Class A School list for which they are
qualified or being assigned to an open billet of their choice. For additional
compensation information, please visit reference (A).
3. PATFORSWA positions are available at the following units:
  a. Afloat: CGC ADAK, CGC AQUIDNECK, CGC BARANOF, CGC MAUI, CGC WRANGELL,
     and CGC MONOMOY
  b. Ashore: PATFORSWA Shoreside Support 
4. Assignment Criteria:
  a. Be a U.S. citizen.
  b. Be 18 years of age at deployment date.
  c. Be suitable for overseas assignments IAW references (B) and (C).
  d. Possess a valid drivers license for the duration of assignment.
  e. Be eligible for a Secret clearance or higher.
  f. Meet obligated service requirements (15 months from report date).
  g. Have completed task 1-01, Physical Fitness Standards, of reference (D) within
     6 months of 01 February 2019.
  h. Meet Coast Guard weight standards IAW reference (E).
  i. Prior to arrival to Pre-Deployment Training (PDT), members seeking an afloat
     assignment must have a current basic qualification for the Personal Defense
     Weapon (PDW) and an M-4 or M-16 rifle. Members seeking an ashore assignment
     must have a basic qualification for a M-4 or M-16 rifle.
5. Applicants should be aware that documented experience and qualifications may
take precedence over other considerations when making these assignments.
6. Members selected for assignment and who are currently on an A School
list will be placed on an administrative hold upon receipt of PCS orders.
Members will not be authorized to cancel PCS orders to attend A School. The
administrative hold will be removed after successful completion of the PATFORSWA
tour.
7. All selected for this duty will be required to complete PDT (6-8 weeks). 
8. Assignment Procedures:
  a. Applications are due NLT 1 November 2018.
  b. Route their request through their Chain of Command.
  c. Complete the Overseas Screening checklists IAW reference (C).
  d. Have a CG-3029 showing proof of current basic qualification for PDW
     and/or the M-4 or M-16 rifle, depending on assignment sought. Practical
     qualifications on these weapons prior to arrival are encouraged but not
     required. Members will have the opportunity and be required to obtain
     practical qualifications during PDT.  
  e. Receive a Command Endorsement IAW Para 9.
9. Commands shall complete the NR PATFORSWA APPLICATION located at reference (F). It is
crucial you use the submit button on the bottom of the form to ensure the endorsement
is sent via Outlook to the embedded email address. All endorsements should address
the following in the remarks section:
  a. Verify member meets all assignment criteria in paragraph 4.
  b. If member has not qualified basic on a PDW and/or M-16 or M-4 (depending on
     assignment sought), the endorsement should address member's potential to
     qualify prior to arrival to PDT.
  c. Verify completion of criteria in Para 4.g. If member has not completed the
     criteria, address member's potential to complete within listed timeframe.
  d. Backfill concerns: When addressing backfills for members not tour complete in
     AY18, commands should keep in mind an immediate backfill is not always
     possible. The commands backfill request will factor into the candidate
     selection process.
10. Selectees will be notified via e-mail NLT 01 December 2018. Notifications will
not be made to those not selected.
