Coast Guard rescues man stuck in mud in the Francis Marion National Forest

CHARLESTON, S.C. — The Coast Guard rescued a man Saturday who became stuck in mud in the Francis Marion National Forest.

Rescued was Lemeul Garrison, 42.

Coast Guard Sector Charleston Command Center watchstanders received a call at approximately 9 p.m. from Berkeley County Police Department and South Carolina Department of Natural Resources requesting assistance with extracting a man stuck in waist-deep mud.

A Coast Guard Air Facility Charleston MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew launched to assist at 10:20 p.m.

The Dolphin crew arrived on scene at 10:37 p.m., extracted the man from the mud and transported him to Roper St. Francis Mount Pleasant Hospital for further medical care.
