SUBJ: EVERGREEN V - PREPARING THE COAST GUARD FOR AN UNPREDICTABLE FUTURE
1. The Evergreen program is a strategic foresight initiative the U.S. Coast Guard
first implemented in 1998 and renews every four years. It identifies capabilities,
strategies, and policies the Service may need to confront an uncertain future.
To support these efforts, DCO-X will develop a framework to consider different
future possibilities, conduct workshops to identify potential vulnerabilities and
impacts on operations, and develop scenarios to conduct capability gap analysis.
Outreach and planning are underway with the initial workshop scheduled for
22 October 2018 at Coast Guard Headquarters.
2. To support its fifth cycle, the Evergreen Program is soliciting input from the
fleet to understand which potential drivers, trends, and challenges may impact the
U.S. Coast Guard's operational environment and the strategies it will need to be
ready for them. The following link (www.pollev.com/Evergreen) is open to submit
your ideas directly to the Evergreen program and stay updated with its progress.
