Coast Guard rescues man after skiff overturns in rough water near Westport, Wash.

WESTPORT, Wash. — The Coast Guard rescued a man after rough waters overturned his skiff near the entrance to Grays Harbor, Tuesday afternoon.

A boat crew aboard a 47-foot Motor Life Boat from Station Grays Harbor rescued the man who was sitting on top of his overturned skiff between buoys 2 and 4 and transported him safely to shore with no injuries or medical conditions reported.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Columbia River located in Warrenton, Oregon, received the report, of a man sitting on top of an overturned boat between buoys 2 and 4 in Grays Harbor, from a person on shore at 4:23 p.m. The 47-foot MLB crew arrived on scene short time later and rescued the man.

The Coast Guard reminds boaters to be aware of changing sea conditions and to avoid rough waters that their vessel can’t handle. As the fall season progresses, the water conditions throughout the Pacific Northwest are expected to be rough, therefore take all necessary precautions.
