JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Coast Guard is scheduled to establish a safety zone Friday on the waters of the St. Johns River in the vicinity of Naval Air Station (NAS) Jacksonville during the Blue Angels Airshow.

The safety zone, approximately one square mile, is scheduled to begin Friday at 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. daily through Sunday, while aircraft crews are performing. The safety zone is necessary to protect the general public from hazards associated with aerial flight demonstrations.

No persons or vessel may enter, transit through, anchor in, or remain within the safety zone unless authorized by the Captain of the Port (COTP) Jacksonville or a designated representative. A designated representative means a Coast Guard coxswain, petty officer, or other officers operating a Coast Guard vessel and a federal, state, or local officer designated by or assisting the COTP in the enforcement of the safety zone.

To seek permission to enter the safety zone, contact the COTP Jacksonville by telephone at (904) 714-7557, or a designated representative via VHF-FM radio on channel 16, to request authorization. If authorization is granted, all persons and vessels receiving such authorization must comply with all lawful orders or directions given to them by the COTP or designated representatives.
