MIAMI — The Coast Guard rescued a 42-year-old woman from the water near Key West, Tuesday.
Rescued was Tyna Fisher, 42.
Coast Guard Sector Key West watchstanders received a report from the Key West Police Department stating that Fisher's husband lost sight of her in the water near Fort Zachary Taylor State Park. Watchstanders launched a 24-foot Special Purpose Craft—Shallow Water crew who located Fisher at approximately 4:23 p.m., embarked her and transferred her back to shore with no reported injuries.
The Key West Police Department and Fort Zachary Taylor State Park Rangers also assisted in the search.
“Everyone should utilize a life jacket when in the water due to the flotation and high visibility they provide," said Petty Officer 3rd Class Ty Childers, a Sector Key West watchstander. "These attributes make locating a person in the water easier for search and rescue crews.”
