GOLDSBORO, N.C. -- Coast Guard Shallow-Water Response Team 3 rescued six people and 12 pets stranded near Riegelwood, North Carolina, Sunday.

Coast Guard rescue team members used 16-foot aluminum response boats to navigate regions flooded by Hurricane Florence to conduct search and rescue missions. 

The Coast Guard is conducting search and rescue operations in support of state and local emergency operation centers.
