Coast Guard medevacs two fishermen near Mugu Rock

SAN PEDRO, Calif. — The Coast Guard medevaced two fishermen after they had fallen into the water near Mugu Rock, Thursday morning.

Ventura County Fire Department contacted Coast Guard Sector Los Angeles-Long Beach watchstanders at approximately 10:18 a.m., Thursday, reporting that two male fishermen had fallen into the water near Mugu Rock.

Sector Los Angeles-Long Beach dispatched a Coast Guard Station Channel Islands Harbor 45-foot Response Boat-Medium crew to the scene.

Ventura County lifeguards swam out to the two fishermen and assisted the Coast Guard crew in bringing the two men onboard, one of which was unconscious. Coast Guard crewmembers performed CPR on the fisherman and transported him to awaiting emergency medical services at Station Channel Islands Harbor.

The fishermen were then transported to St. John's Regional Medical Center in Oxnard to receive further medical attention.

The condition of the two fishermen is unknown at this time.
