Coast Guard establishes temporary maritime emergency contact numbers for North Carolina

GOLDSBORO, N.C. – Members of the public should follow all local advisories for evacuation and for seeking safe harbor throughout North Carolina as Hurricane Florence progresses.

The primary number for help should be 911, as this number allows first responders to coordinate rescues across agencies.

Coast Guard Sector North Carolina has established temporary maritime search and rescue phone numbers.

Members of the public who need Coast Guard search and rescue assistance may call:

910-362-4015

910-362-4017

910-362-3422

Social media should not be used to report life-threatening distress due to limited resources to monitor social media platforms during a hurricane or large-scale rescue event.
