SUBJ:  U.S.COAST GUARD ACADEMY ENLISTED SELECTION OPPORTUNITY PROGRAM (AESOP)
1. AESOP is a two day overnight program for junior enlisted members with outstanding
performance and leadership potential who are interested in enrolling in the U.S. Coast Guard
Academy. Members will be exposed to the academy experience, academics, military instruction,
athletics, and cadet life.
2. CGA graduates earn a Bachelor of Science degree and a commission as an ensign, in the USCG.
3. AESOP will be held in conjunction with the Academy's Cadet for a Day program. Please visit
www.USCGA.edu/visit for a list of dates. The program will take place at the U.S. Coast Guard
Academy located in New London, CT. CGA will provide travel order numbers (TONOS) for up to
20 enlisted members. Members' home units will issue orders and verify that members have a
valid government travel charge card (GTCC) for travel purposes.
4. Requirements are as follows: Enlisted members must have started an application to USCGA
and completed all portions except submission of recommendation letters and submission of the
application itself; be unmarried without dependents; not reach their 23rd birthday
before 01 July 2019; have demonstrated a responsible use of GTCC and personal credit; have
AFGT scores of 75 or higher with a minimum AR score of 52; and have completed high school or
college basic calculus and either physics or chemistry.
5. Exceptions will be considered on a case by case basis.
6. To apply for the AESOP program, the following must be scanned and emailed directly to the
program manager, LT Nicolle Bogden (Nicolle.N.Bogden@uscga.edu) 30 days prior to the start of
the program date you wish to attend: command endorsement from member's CO or OINC (in CG MEMO
format), unofficial high school transcript, unofficial transcript(s) of any college credits
taken (if applicable), and AFQT and AR scores.
7. Members applying for the AESOP program must create a profile on the CGA website at:
https://uscga.Askadmissions.Net/emtinterestpage.Aspx?Ip=interest.
8. Program selectees will be notified of their acceptance to AESOP via email through their
online account, Members should use an email account that they regularly monitor (personal or
.mil address).
