Coast Guard suspends search for paraglider in New Hampshire

 

BOSTON — The Coast Guard suspended its search at 12:39 p.m. Monday for a possible paraglider near Seabrook, New Hampshire.

At approximately 7:15 p.m. Sunday, a beach patron called 911 to report a paraglider in the water about 600 yards off Seabrook Beach. Local emergency dispatch crews relayed the call to the Coast Guard.

Coast Guard crews searched through the night Sunday and into Monday, but did not find anything. During the effort, crews covered 201 square nautical miles during 18 hours of searches.

Involved in the search were:

·       A Coast Guard Station Portsmouth Harbor 47-foot Motor Lifeboat crew and a 29-foot Response Boat-Small crew
·       A Coast Guard Station Marrimack River 47-foot Motor Lifeboat crew
·       A Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew and an HC-144 Ocean Sentry airplane crew
·       New Hampshire Marine Patrol
·       Salisbury Fire and Police Departments
·       Seabrook Fire and Police Departments
·       Hampton Fire and Police Departments

 “After an extensive search with our Coast Guard assets alongside local agencies, we have not made any new developments with the case,” said Chief Petty Officer Geoff Potter, an Operations Specialist from the Coast Guard Sector Northern New England command center.

The search is suspended pending any further developments.
