Coast Guard Medevacs 2 women near Moriches Inlet
NEW YORK — A Coast Guard Station East Moriches response boatcrew medevaced two women from a sailboat a few miles south of Moriches Inlet, Friday morning.
Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Long Island Sound command center received notification around 9:30 a.m., that a 36-year-old passenger aboard the sailing vessel Flirtation, was experiencing symptoms of severe dehydration.
The command center dispatched a rescue crew aboard a 29-foot Response Boat – Small with a qualified emergency medical technician from East Moriches Fire Department aboard.
Upon arriving on scene, the rescue crew discovered that a 62-year-old female passenger had fallen inside the vessels’ cabin as well, causing a facial injury.
Both women were brought aboard the rescue boat and transferred to an awaiting ambulance at Station East Moriches.
