Coast Guard suspends search for reported person in the water
NEW ORLEANS — The Coast Guard suspended its search for a person in the water near Dauphin Island, Alabama, Wednesday.
The Coast Guard and other agencies searched 10 square-nautical miles for approximately 4 hours without identifying any signs of distress.
There were no correlating reports of missing people near the search area.
Watchstanders received a report at 12:20 p.m. of a person approximately a half-mile from West End Public Beach in distress.
Involved in the search were:
- A 45-Foot Response Boat-Medium crew from Coast Guard Station Dauphin Island
- An MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans
- A boatcrew from the Alabama Marine Resources Division
- Members from the local fire department
