Coast Guard rescues 3 paddle boarders near Ocean City, NJ

PHILADELPHIA – The Coast Guard rescued three people who fell from their paddle boards and became stuck in a marsh near Ocean City New Jersey, Thursday.

The Coast Guard was notified by Ocean City Police Department of the three people in distress and launched a 29-foot Response Boat-Small rescue crew from Station Ocean City, New Jersey at 10:45 a.m.

The rescue boat crew arrived on-scene shortly after notification took the three people and their paddle boards safely to  the 10th street pier in Ocean City.

“Communications are key whether you are on a paddle board or a power boat,” said Lt. Peter Harrington, command duty officer at Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay. “Whenever you’re venturing out onto the water, always make sure you have a reliable means of communication, such as a VHF radio in the event you’re in trouble, to help rescuers get to you quickly and accurately.”
