Coast Guard crew revives unconscious woman on boat near Georgetown Waterfront, DC

BALTIMORE — Coast Guard crewmembers from Station Washington revived a woman who reportedly passed out from carbon monoxide poisoning this evening near the Georgetown Waterfront.

The 29-foot Response Boat-Small crew was notified by a man on VHF-FM radio channel 16 at approximately 5:30 p.m., that he and another passenger were suffering from carbon monoxide poisoning, and that the other passenger was unconscious in the cabin of the 40-foot pleasure craft.

Station Washington crewmembers arrived on the scene, took the woman outside of the cabin, and transferred her to the Coast Guard boat. A crewmember began CPR while in route to the Georgetown Waterfront, and the woman regained consciousness shortly after.

Both passengers were transported to the waterfront, where they met EMS and were taken to George Washington University Hospital.

"It feels great knowing that I possibly saved a persons life," said Petty Officer 2nd Class Chris Page, boarding officer, who performed the CPR. "My training just kicked in automatically, and I am happy I could help."
