Coast Guard, partner agencies find overdue jet skier near Brooklyn, NY

NEW YORK — The Coast Guard and partner agencies found Koray Kurulgan, a jet skier who was reported to be overdue, in the vicinity of Marine Basin Marina in Brooklyn, New York.

 

After being reported missing by his father, the 27-year-old was safely located with his gray jet ski secured to a boat.

 

Assets included in the search: 

 

-A MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City, NJ

-A 45-foot Response Boat – Medium boat crew from Coast Guard Station New York 

-NYPD Harbor Unit

-FDNY Marine

 

The Coast Guard reminds all boaters to plan ahead before venturing out on the water by filing a float plan with someone on land. 

 

A float plan includes all the pertinent information the Coast Guard will need in a search, including the names of the owner and operator of the vessel, description of the operator and passengers, and information about the vessel. It will also include information about your trip including departure date, departure location, destination, your planned route and your return time.
