Coast Guard investigating workboat allision on the Cooper River

CHARLESTON, S.C. — The Coast Guard is investigating the death of a man after a workboat allided with a seawall Friday on the Cooper River south of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center.
Coast Guard Sector Charleston command center watchstanders received a report at 11:31 p.m. stating the Miss June, a 24-foot Moran Environmental workboat, allided with a seawall with two people aboard.
North Charleston Police, North Charleston Fire Department, South Carolina Department of Natural Resources and Coast Guard Sector Charleston Investigating Officers all responded to the scene.
The operator, Edward Barnett, was reported deceased by NCP officials. The other crewmember, who suffered a leg injury, was transported to the Medical University of South Carolina.
The cause of the incident is under investigation.
