1. PURPOSE. To provide information on the behaviors that foster inclusive work environments.
This workshop will enable the LDAC Chairs to assist their local units in the following ways:
provide basic instruction in inclusive behaviors, assist with survey analysis, and facilitate
action planning and conversations on diverse topics. Upon completion of the workshop, the LDAC
Chairs will be provided with a D&I Toolkit.
2. ANNOUNCEMENT. The New Inclusion Quotient (New IQ) Train-the-Trainer Change Agent
Workshop, IAW REFs (A)-(C). The initial workshop will be held at CG Headquarters at the
St. Elizabeth’s Campus on August 16, 2018 from 0800 – 1630. Once the first cohort of LDAC Chairs
(Change Agents) has attended the workshop, future workshop dates will be scheduled as necessary.
3. BACKGROUND. The New IQ refers to inclusive intelligence and it is built upon the concept
that individual behaviors, repeated over time, form the habits that create inclusive work
environments. These behaviors can be learned, practiced, and developed to improve the
inclusiveness of organizational cultures. Workplace inclusion is a contributing factor to both
employee engagement and organizational performance. The New IQ Index is a subset of questions
in the Federal Employee Viewpoint Survey that correlate with five positive habits that promote
inclusive work environments – Fair, Open, Cooperative, Supportive, and Empowering. The New IQ
Train-the-Trainer (TTT) workshop uses innovative training techniques, including exercises,
videos, and a habit formation and change management framework to build stronger workplace
cultures. The New IQ will cover the following topics:
   (a) The business case for inclusive diversity – why diverse teams are more productive than
homogenous teams;
   (b) Managing diversity – how to leverage diversity of thought by building bridges to understanding;
   (c) Revisiting Maslow’s hierarchy of needs – what the new research says about human beings’
need for safety, belonging, and purpose;
   (d) Building a foundation of trust, respect, and civility;
   (e) Building a diverse dream team;
   (f) The impact of unconscious bias in the workplace and how to mitigate it;
   (g) Identity – how our identities are formed and shape our world views and tribes
(in-groups vs. out-groups);
   (h) Personality type self-assessments – how to work with people with different working styles;
   (i) Emotional intelligence – how to practice mindfulness and self-awareness for career
progression; and
   (j) Empathy – how to practice empathic listening and perspective taking to connect with others.
4. Upon completion of this workshop, change agents will be equipped with the requisite skills needed
to train others on how to apply the New IQ principles and model inclusive behaviors in the workplace.
5. ACTION. Commanding Officers and supervisors are strongly encouraged to send their LDAC Chairs.
Capacity is limited to 20 seats. LDACs will be given priority seating and selections will be made
