Coast Guard to hold change of command ceremony in Pascagoula, Mississippi
NEW ORLEANS - Capt. Travis Carter is scheduled to assume command of the Project Resident Office Gulf Coast during a change of command ceremony in Pascagoula, Mississippi, July 11, 2018.
Who: Capt. Travis Carter is scheduled to relieve Capt. Christopher Webb.
What: Change of command ceremony for Project Resident Office Gulf Coast
When: Wednesday, July 11, 2018, at 10:30 a.m.
Where: Singing River Yacht Club, 3900 Beach Blvd, Pascagoula, MS
Capt. Douglas Schofield, the assistant program executive officer, surface acquisitions, is scheduled to preside over the ceremony.
Project Resident Office Gulf Coast oversees the production and delivery of Coast Guard National Security Cutters.
National Security Cutters are 418-foot Coast Guard vessels capable of executing the most challenging operations, including supporting maritime homeland security and defense missions.
The change-of-command ceremony is a historic military tradition. The event, which has remained unchanged for centuries, includes a reading of the command orders in the presence of all unit crew members to ensure continuity of command.
