Coast Guard searching for child off Long Beach, N.Y.
NEW YORK — The Coast Guard is searching for an eight-year-old boy off the waters of Long Beach, New York, Tuesday evening.
The missing boy was was last seen last seen swimming with his brother near Ocean Beach Park around 6:00 p.m.
Nassau County emergency responders notified Coast Guard Sector Long Island Sound command center that the boy was missing. The command center dispatched a crew in a 29-foot Response Boat-small from Station Jones Beach. A helicopter aircrew from Air Station Atlantic City is also assisting in the search. An aircrew from Air Station Cape Cod is also scheduled to join the search effort as well.

The Coast Guard urges swimmers to always swim in areas where lifeguards are present. The ocean is powerful and can overtake even the best swimmers.
