Coast Guard medevacs man suffering from chest pains 70 miles southeast of Atlantic City, NJ

PHILADELPHIA – The Coast Guard medevaced a 64-year-old man reportedly suffering from a weak pulse and chest pains  approximately 70 miles southeast of Atlantic City Friday.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay received an emergency call by marine band radio stating a man was suffering from a reportedly weak pulse and chest pains aboard a 26-foot boat, at about 9:30 a.m.

An MH-65 Dolphin rescue helicopter crew from Air Station Atlantic City was diverted to assist the man after completing a medevac earlier in the day.

The rescue helicopter crew hoisted the man aboard and transferred him to awaiting emergency medical personnel at Atlantic Care hospital in Atlantic City.

“It’s very important boaters notify the Coast Guard if they suspect someone may be suffering from a medical condition at the first signs of it,” said Petty Officer 1st Class Charles Osenbach, a watchstander at Sector Delaware Bay. “Maritime rescues can be complex, so by reaching out with a marine band radio distress call, we can arrive quickly and accurately to get people to the help they need.”
