PHILADELPHIA — Media are invited to attend a U.S. Coast Guard safe boating event in preparation for the summer boating season at Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay, Wednesday.

Media will see the Coast Guard demonstrate proper lifejacket fitting techniques, explain how to keep children safe while on the water and discuss boating safety tips that can reduce the time it takes for rescuers to find them in the event a boating trip turns disastrous.

The event is part of National Safe Boating Week, a national event held by many organizations to highlight safe boating practices and encourage boaters to get boating safety checks with the Coast Guard Auxiliary.

Media members are requested to arrive at 10 a.m.
