Coast Guard units to host free and open to the public events

 

CLEVELAND — Several U.S. Coast Guard stations on the Great Lakes are scheduled to host free events for the public this weekend and in the coming weeks.

Some of the events will be open houses and will allow the public to tour the station, learn about the crews, equipment and missions of the Coast Guard on the Great Lakes. These events will coincide with the start of National Safe Boating Week, May 19-25.

 

What: Coast Guard Station Oswego will be assisting Oswego Fire Department May 18, 2018 at Wrights Landing Marina in Oswego New York. In support of National Safe Boating Week, Coast Guard Station Oswego will attend with Coast Guard Auxiliary 2-4.  Everyone is invited to come meet the crew, and hear about the importance of boater safety and proper life jacket use.

What: Coast Guard Auxiliary Boating Safety Class. The Auxiliary "About Boating Safety" certification and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources safe boating certificate programs will be covered.
