SUBJ:  2018-2019 COAST GUARD FOUNDATION ENLISTED RESERVE SCHOLARSHIPS
1. COMDT (CG-13) is pleased to announce the application period for the
Coast Guard Foundation Enlisted Reserve Scholarships. The Coast Guard
Foundation is awarding eight, $1,000 scholarships to enlisted Coast Guard
reservists or their eligible dependents for 2018.
2. Applicants must:
   a. Be an enlisted Coast Guard reservist (Selected Reserve or
Individual Ready Reserve) or their dependent. Dependents must be
registered in the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS)
under their Coast Guard Reserve sponsor.
   b. Be enrolled in, or accepted by, an accredited degree granting
institution or an accredited technical or vocational training school, and
be pursuing their first associates, bachelors, masters, or doctorate degree
or a technical or vocational certificate.
   c. Maintain the minimum grade point average required by their
institution to remain in degree or certificate status.
3. Scholarship applications shall consist of:
   a. A signed one-page cover letter attesting to the eligibility of the
applicant with respect to the requirements listed in Paragraph 2 above.
If the applicant is a dependent, their sponsor must also sign the letter.
The cover letter must include contact phone numbers, mailing address, and
email address of both the applicant and the sponsor.
   b. A one-page typed essay describing an accomplishment (Coast Guard or
civilian career, extra-curricular, or volunteer) you are proud of and how
your experience with the Coast Guard Reserve has enabled or inspired
that accomplishment.
   c. An official transcript from the educational institution attended
during the 2017-2018 academic year or proof of enrollment (acceptance letter).
4. Email application packages to ReserveScholarships@uscg.mil. Do not
submit paper copies.
5. Educational institutions must send official transcripts to the email
address above or to U.S. Coast Guard, Attn: COMDT (CG-131), 2703 Martin
Luther King Jr. Avenue S.E. Stop 7907, Washington, DC 20593-7907.
6. Application packages and official transcripts must be received no later
than 31 July 2018. Incomplete or late submissions will not be considered.

8. The Coast Guard Foundation will select scholarship winners and COMDT (CG-13)
will announce the winners via ALCOAST in August 2018.
