Coast Guard available for interviews on summer boating safety in Cincinnati, Ohio

CINCINNATI, OH – The Coast Guard will be available for media interviews on Saturday, May 12, 2018, to discuss safe recreational boating practices in anticipation of the summer season.

WHO: Coast Guard marine safety personnel and Coast Guard Auxiliary personnel

WHAT: Boating Season Media Briefing

WHEN: Saturday, May 12, 2018, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

WHERE: Four Seasons Marina, 4609 Kellogg Ave., Cincinnati, OH 45226

The Coast Guard Auxiliary will offer the opportunity for members of the media to ride aboard their 24-foot patrol vessel and opportunities to interview Coast Guard personnel. Meanwhile, members of the Coast Guard Auxiliary will be performing free recreational vessel safety examinations at the 500-slip marina.

This briefing and National Safe Boating Week, May 19 - May 25, provide an opportunity for recreational boaters to learn about the challenges of operating around commercial river traffic and to learn about safe boating practices that should be observed throughout the year.

For safety purposes, anyone who boards or rides a Coast Guard vessel or a Coast Guard Auxiliary vessel must wear a lifejacket, provided by the Coast Guard Auxiliary. Also, please do not wear high heels or open toe shoes. Soft shoes are strongly recommended.
