Coast Guard Sector Long Island Sound receives new commander

NEW YORK - Cmdr. Kevin B. Reed was promoted to the rank of captain and assumed command of Sector Long Island Sound, in New Haven, CT, Thursday afternoon.
In a ceremony at Sector Long Island Sound, Rear Adm. Steven D. Poulin, commander of the Coast Guard’s First District, officiated the ceremony formally making Reed the commander of the unit.
As the sector commander, Reed holds the title of Captain of the Port for Long Island Sound and is responsible for seven small boat stations, three Coast Guard cutters, two aids to navigation teams, and one marine safety detachment.
Reed previously held the position of deputy of Sector Long Island Sound. The previous commander, Capt. Andrew Tucci, was relieved by Adm. Poulin.
