Media Advisory: Coast Guard Sector/Air Station Corpus Christi to hold change of command ceremony in Corpus Christi, Texas
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Coast Guard Sector/Air Station Corpus Christi is scheduled to hold a change-of-command ceremony Friday, May 4, 2018.
WHO: Capt. Edward Gaynor will relieve Capt. Tony Hahn. Rear Adm. Paul Thomas, commander, 8th Coast Guard District, will preside over the ceremony.
WHAT: Coast Guard Sector/Air Station Corpus Christi change-of-command ceremony
WHEN: Friday, May 4, at 10 a.m.
WHERE: 249 West Glasson Dr., Corpus Christi, Texas
Media wishing to attend should contact Sector/Air Station Corpus Christi Public Affairs at 361-438- 0176 no later than 12 p.m., Wednesday, May 2. Media should arrive for the ceremony no later than 9:30 a.m.
Capt. Gaynor’s previous assignment was as the chief of incident management, 1st Coast Guard District. Capt. Hahn’s next assignment is the chief of staff, Coast Guard Pacific Area.
The change-of-command ceremony is a time-honored tradition and deeply rooted in Coast Guard and Naval history. The event signifies a total transfer of responsibility, authority and accountability for the command.
