Coast Guard medevacs cruise ship crewmember 45 miles south of Marathon

A Coast Guard Air Station Miami MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew medevaced a 41-year-old man from the cruise ship, Norwegian Getaway, Monday, April 16, 2018 approximately 45 miles south of Marathon.

MIAMI—The Coast Guard medevaced a 41-year-old man from the cruise ship, Norwegian Getaway, Monday approximately 45 miles south of Marathon.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Key West received a call from the cruise ship at midnight stating a crewmember was suffering from internal issues and needed a medevac.

Coast Guard Air Station Miami MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew arrived on scene at 5:40 a.m., hoisted the patient and transferred him to the air station where awaiting emergency medical services transported him to Jackson Memorial Hospital for further medical care.
