MIAMI — The Coast Guard rescued two swimmers from the water Saturday near the south jetty in Port Everglades.

Rescued were Daniel Babrow, 43, and Clifford Ball, 41.

The two men were reportedly swimming off of Dr. Von D. Mizell-Eula Johnson State Park when a current swept them out to sea.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Miami received a call on VHF-FM channel 16 at 6:31 p.m., from a good Samaritan vessel stating two people climbing on the navigational day beacon 5 near Port Everglades.

A Coast Guard Station Fort Lauderdale 33-foot Special Purpose Craft—Law Enforcement boatcrew launched, arrived on scene at 6:38 p.m., and rescued Babrow and Ball from the water. The boatcrew took the two men to the station with no reported injuries, where family picked them up.
