MM 100 OIL SPILL CONTAMINATION ASSESSMENT AND VESSEL GUIDELINES
On April 12, 2018, Coast Guard received a report of a fuel oil discharge in the vicinity of at MM100.6 Lower Mississippi River (LMR) due to a vessel allision with a wharf at Port of New Orleans, causing many vessels throughout the Mississippi River to potentially be contaminated with this oil.
To facilitate decontamination, prevent further environmental and vessel contamination, and to expedite the resumption of river traffic, all vessels that believe they may have come in contact with this oil may reach out to MR & Associates via telephone at (888) 850-8486 (option #2) to begin the process for decontamination. Any vessel that believes they may have come into contact with this oil spill, shall not get underway until they have been properly evaluated and adequately cleaned to the satisfaction of the attending incident response representative assigned via the telephone number noted above.
