ARCATA, Calif. — The Coast Guard and Arcata Fire Department conducted interagency hoist training at the Mad River Community Hospital in Arcata, Tuesday.
A Coast Guard Sector Humboldt Bay MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew and the Arcata Fire Department conducted ground training and equipment familiarization followed by an airborne hoisting exercise.
The training session was the third and final interagency event conducted at Mad River Community Hospital over the past three weeks. The recent events focused on increasing interoperability between first responders while providing the safest possible emergency response service to the community.
Since January of last year, Sector Humboldt Bay helicopter crews have responded to nearly 100 search-and-rescue cases.
