Coast Guard, Miami Fire-Rescue Department rescue 3 people from water near Sands Key

MIAMI — The Coast Guard and Miami Fire-Rescue rescued three people from the water approximately 3 miles northeast of Sands Key.

The Coral Gables Police Department notified Coast Guard Sector Miami watchstanders of a 14-foot pleasure craft with three people aboard taking on water. Watchstanders diverted a Coast Guard Air Station Miami HC-144 Ocean Sentry aircrew, and the Miami Fire-Rescue Department also responded.

The aircrew located the three people in the water near the partially submerged boat and reported the position to the Miami Fire-Rescue Department who arrived on scene, rescued the people and brought them ashore.
