SUBJ:  SOLICITATION FOR WOMEN OF COLOR SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING, AND MATH (STEM) CONFERENCE AWARDS NOMINATIONS
1. Career Communications Group. Inc., the host for the annual Women of Color (WOC) STEM
Conference is accepting nominations for awards to be presented at the 2018 conference
scheduled for 11-13 October 2018 in Detroit, MI. These awards recognize outstanding women
from all racial backgrounds in the STEM fields and provide excellent opportunities to
showcase the superior achievements of the US Coast Guard’s highest performing military and
civilian women.
2. The Women of Color STEM Professional categories are awards granted to individuals in the
workforce. These nomination applications are reviewed and recommended for an award by a
panel of leaders from industry, government and academia. Those categories are:
   A. Career Achievement
   B. Community Service
   C. Corporate Responsibility
   D. Educational Leadership
   E. Managerial Leadership
   F. New Media/IT Leadership
   G. Professional Achievement
   H. Technical Innovation
3. Women of Color STEM Academia categories are awards granted to individuals in the academic
community. The nomination applications are reviewed and recommended for an award by a panel of leaders from industry, government, and academia. Those categories are:
   A. Educational Leadership
   B. K-12 Promotion of Education
   C. Student Leadership
4. Women of Color STEM Outstanding Achievement Awards are granted to individuals in the
workforce and are recommended for these awards by their employers; those categories are:
   A. Technology All-Stars
   B. Technology Rising Stars
5. You may obtain additional information on the 2018 WOC STEM Conference and the WOC Awards at https://intouch.ccgmag.com/page/woc_conferences3. All nomination packages shall be sent directly or submitted online to Career Communications Group per the guidance and criteria on their website http://intouch.ccgmag.com/mpage/categories_criteria. In addition to this process, nominators will notify COMDT (CG-12B) of all nominees for tracking purposes.
Nomination packages for all awards are due NLT 30 April 2018. Commands are encouraged to
contact the COMDT (CG-12B) point of contact, Mr. Damien Terry, COMDT (CG-12B), (202) 475-5254, Damien.J.Terry@uscg.mil for any questions or concerns. COMDT (CG-12B) will seek authorization from COMDT (CG-8) for attendance approval. All award winner travel and registration will be sponsored by their nominating command/unit.
