Coast Guard medevacs mariner from cargo vessel 20 miles south of Key West

MIAMI — The Coast Guard medevaced a 37-year-old man with an injury to his arm Tuesday from the 482-foot cargo vessel Sanna approximately 20 miles south of Key West.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Key West Command Center received a satellite phone call at approximately noon from the crew of the vessel Sanna reporting the man needed further medical care for the wound sustained to his arm.

A Coast Guard Air Station Miami MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew arrived on scene at 4:57 p.m., hoisted the injured crewmember and transported him to awaiting emergency medical services at Key West International Airport for further medical care.
