Coast Guard medevacs 3-year-old from cruise ship more than 200 miles southwest of Key West

MIAMI — The Coast Guard medevaced a 3-year-old boy from the cruise ship Norwegian Dawn Monday approximately 200 miles southwest of Key West.

Coast Guard watchstanders received a satellite phone call from the cruise ship stating one of their passengers was experiencing intestinal issues and needed further medical treatment. A Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater MH-60 helicopter crew to assist arrived on scene at approximately 4:30 p.m. and hoisted the child and his mother.

The aircrew transported the child to the Lower Florida Keys Hospital in Key West in stable condition.
