SUBJ:  SELECTION OF COAST GUARD RESERVE FORCE MASTER CHIEF (CGRF-MC)
1. We are pleased to announce the selection of Command Master Chief George M. Williamson
as the next Coast Guard Reserve Force Master Chief (CGRF-MC). He will relieve CGRF-MC
Eric L. Johnson during a Change of Watch Ceremony on 16 May 2018 in Washington, DC.
2. CMC Williamson enlisted in the Coast Guard in October 1983 and entered the Coast Guard
Reserve in 1988. CMC Williamson has served in many assignments including USCGC RED OAK,
Station Beach Haven, Reserve Unit Long Beach Island, Station Atlantic City, Aids to
Navigation Team Cape May, USCGC MAKO, USCGC FINBACK, and USCGC IBIS. He has served as the Reserve Command Master Chief for both the Fifth Coast Guard District and Coast Guard
Pacific Area. CMC Williamson assumed the duties of Reserve Command Master Chief, Coast
Guard Atlantic Area, in September 2016. CMC Williamson is a graduate of Reserve Class 14
of the Coast Guard Chief Petty Officer Academy and Spirit of the Chief recipient, the
National Defense University’s Keystone Command Senior Enlisted Course, and other
service-related schools. CMC Williamson holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from Saint
Joseph’s University. CMC Williamson has served as a Patrol Sergeant for the West Norriton
Township Police Department, Montgomery County, PA for over 25 years and as a hostage
negotiator on the SWAT unit. CMC Williamson has also served for over 25 years in the
maritime industry as a fishing, sightseeing, and commercial salvage vessel captain.
3. CMC Williamson has demonstrated a significant commitment to our Core Values of Honor,
Respect and Devotion to Duty by his outstanding performance during his 34-year career.
4. A number of outstanding Master Chiefs with diverse backgrounds applied for this
important and prestigious position. We would like to commend them for their past service,
dedication to the Coast Guard, and thank them for their willingness to serve in this
position.
