WHAT: Media ride aboard new Fast Response Cutter Richard Snyder into Atlantic Beach

WHERE: Start and finish at Coast Guard Station Fort Macon, 2301 E Fort Macon Rd., Atlantic Beach, NC 28512

WHEN: Tuesday, March 20, 2018

 

 

ATLANTIC BEACH, N.C. — The command of the new Coast Guard Fast Response Cutter Richard Snyder invites media to ride aboard as the cutter sails into Atlantic Beach Tuesday.

 

Coast Guard Cutter Smilax, queen of the fleet, will lead the Richard Snyder into port where the Snyder will tie up at Fort Macon for the first time.

 

Media members requesting to ride along, RSVP by sending an email to d5de@uscg.mil .

 

There are limited spots, please RSVP early.

 

Media requesting to ride along will be ferried to the Snyder aboard a Coast Guard 47-foot Motor Lifeboat from Station Fort Macon. Media members should be at the Coast Guard Fort Macon front gate at 8:45 a.m.

 

Media members are advised that the ride out might be rough and climbing from the boat to the cutter will require physical dexterity. 

 

Parking is available, and the cutter will tie up at the same location.

 

This event may be cancelled if inclement weather or operational needs arise.
